Who are we?

The Hawks organization is a nonprofit that exists to teach and promote the game of baseball in an environment that fosters competition and individual development, instills the importance of being part of a team, readies players for High School baseball, and enhances the enjoyment of youth baseball players in Cedar Springs and the surrounding area.

Why join a hawks travel team?

  • Certified Head Coach
  • Jersey(s) and hat (cost varies by team)
  • Additional Apparel and gear available.
  • 4-8 tournaments (varies by team and level of play.)
  • 2 hitting lessons.
  • 2 pitching or catching lessons if applicable.
  • Practice facilities – Outdoor when possible and indoor during the fall/winter.
  • Team Insurance
  • GameChanger Community Pass for the season.

What is the cost?

If your Athlete is selected for a baseball team we will require a $200 payment to confirm their spot.  Costs vary from team to team depending on the number of tournaments and apparel choices.  For a standard baseball team we expect around $870 per athlete, of which we expect fundraising to cover a large portion if you wish to participate.

Please note: We do everything we can to keep costs as low as possible.  As a nonprofit we put all player fees back into the teams.  We do not want any athlete that wants to play to miss out.  Need based micro-grants may be available.  Please contact us for more information.

What does select Travel baseball mean?

Select Travel Baseball teams are comprised of the top athletes who tried out for the team.  Players who sign-up for Select Baseball teams are typically among the best players on their league teams.  These teams then seek to play tournaments against teams of similar ability.

Is playing time GUARANTEED?

While every athlete will play in each game, it is up to the Coaches discretion on how much time an athlete will play.  We encourage you to speak to your coach if you have any questions.

Where are your FACILITIES Located?

Practice facilities will be in the Cedar Springs/Rockford Area.

How long is the season?

Hawks form tournament teams with a one year committment, starting in August through the end of July.  The number of tournaments played will be determined by each team’s Parents and Coaches.

Can I still play other sports?

Yes!  We encourage kids to play multiple sports.  Please provide your schedule to the Team Manager as soon as possible.

How do I know that our Head Coach really knows baseball?

Our Coaches know their stuff!

  • All Head Coaches are trained and certified by one of the top baseball training organizations in the nation.
  • Our hitting coordinator manages hitting instruction for all levels of play. He also ensures that all coaches are teaching from the same curriculum.
  • Our pitching coordinator manages pitching instruction for all levels of play. He also ensures that all coaches are teaching from the same curriculum.

What is the difference between a Coach and a team manager?

  • A Head coach is your athlete’s main teacher. His job is to provide your athlete with the guidance, education and training to succeed in the game of baseball.  He will also setup practices, manage the team coaching staff and set lineups.
  • The Team Manager runs the business of the team. This includes but is not limited to Parent communications, running team software ie GameChanger and running fundraisers for the team.  Team Managers work with the Hawks Directors to ensure the team is on track for success.
